Nuclear Medicine, Bone-Scintigraphy

Bone-scintigraphy examination process

For the bone scintigraphy you will receive a small amount of Tc-99m MDP by injection into an arm vein. The scintigram is performed 2 to 3 hours after this injection in a supine position. The test takes about half an hour. In order to clarify certain questions, pictures are also taken shortly after the injection. Between the injection and the late recordings, you should drink about 1 litre of liquid. This may improve the image quality. After the examination, the images are analysed on a computer. Our doctors will explain the examination results to you, and you will receive copies of the images from us for referring colleagues.
